So far, Hurricane Hanna has generated a lot of buzz, but not much else in the Midlands. I went running at Riverfront Park last night and enjoyed the slightly cooler weather and very light breeze. The blue sky was a gorgeous backdrop to the canal and river scenery along the trail. But Hurricane Hanna blew through other parts of the Southeast. Here is a photo of Hanna’s high winds, courtesy of Flickr, a photo sharing Web site.

While you’re stocking up on bottled water and batteries, some people are hitting the beach. The high winds from hurricanes and tropical storms draw a brave few to beaches for extreme surfing and kayaking. Check out this YouTube video of some guys surf kayaking at Folly Beach in September 2005 during Hurricane Ophelia.
